Getting the retrenchment benefit

If your boss likes you, chances are that he will try his best to retain you by minimizing your chances of being short listed for retrenchment when times are bad and the company needs to downsize by laying off workers.

If your boss really hates you, again chances are that he might try his best to retain you so as to prevent you from being able to qualify for retrenchment benefits. This is more so if you are long service employee. Instead your boss may become nasty by redeploying you elsewhere till you give up.
