Permanent base on the moon

Well it’s being quite awhile since I last update my blog. Time sure pass quickly. One of my favorite sci-fi television series is ‘Space 1999’. Back then during the 1970s when ‘Space 1999’ was popularly shown on TV, the year1999 seems like a far distant future where it seems highly probable that man may someday conquer and dwell on the moon on permanent basis. The author and inventor of the ‘Space 1999’ TV series would be surprise to know that we have yet to establish any permanent base on the moon. Yes, man has landed on moon since the 1960s. It is now technological feasible to establish a permanent base in the moon so why aren’t NASA or the Russian Space Agency doing so? The answer is surprisingly simple. We may now have the necessary technology and the knowledge to build a permanent base on the moon; however so long as it is cost prohibitive and expensive to maintain such a base, NASA or any space agency would seek alternative cheaper solution to house human in space such as the European Space Station.
The lesson that we could learn from this is that a product or a service has to be economically viable to be accepted and being considered for use. We may have the most advance and high tech product in the world; it would be useless though if the price for such a product is too high and beyond the reach of the mass population.
